Labhpur

Labhpur is a little-known weekend getaway near Santiniketan in Birbhum district of West Bengal. It is the birthplace of the famous Bengali writer, Tarashankar Bandopadhyay. Many of his novels and stories carry a vivid description of this area. A walk through the village roads will take you to the writer's ancestral house. The main attraction of Labhpur is the Fullara Devi Temple. This 100-year old temple is surrounded by dense foliage and believed to be one of the 51 Shaktipiths. Legend has it that the lower lip of Goddess Sati fell at the site of the temple. A huge pond situated near the temple adds to the beauty of the place. Every year, a 10-day fair is held at the Fullora temple during Magh purnima. Another attraction of Labhpur is the Daldali Lake.
